73. Robert (James Irwin) IRVINE *¹ was born after 1670 in County Antrim, Ireland. He died after 1729 in Pennsylvania.¹¹ He was an 8th great grandfather of PLO.

Per Elson Irwin: NOTE: This Robert Irvine became a wealthy man, operating linen mills at Larne, County Antrim in Ireland. Yet, seven of his sons chose to migrate to America in 1729, why?

There was also possibly a child by the name of Matthew.

NOTE: The last 7 sons (Thomas, Alexander, George, William, Robert, James, and Samuel) migrated to America and all changed the spelling of Irvine to Irwin. They came to America aboard the "George and Anne" leaving Londonderry May 9, 1729 and disembarked at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is very likely that Matthew Irwin and his group came at the same time or even a few years earlier. George Irwin, son of Jared, came in 1720 with his six brothers as well.

Robert (James Irwin) IRVINE * and Margaret (Wyles) WYLIE * were married before 1690 in Glencoe, Ireland. Margaret (Wyles) WYLIE *¹ (daughter of Andrew WYLIE and Jeane LINDSAY) was born in 1658 in Londonderry, Ireland.¹¹ She was born about 1670. She died in Londonderry, Ireland. Robert (James Irwin) IRVINE * and Margaret (Wyles) WYLIE * had the following children:

92	iv.	Alexander (Irvine) IRWIN29 was born about 1692 in Antrim, Ireland. Before coming to America Alexander lived in Scotland and he and his brother Robert were at a hunt in Argyleshire, Scotland. Alexander got into difficulty with a man and gave him wounds from which he died. Alexander and Robert fled from Scotland in hunting dress and came by night to Gleno, Ireland. Alexander was afterward pardoned, returned to Scotland, and came from there to America, landed at Philadelphia, and from there to Bedford County, Virginia. [-Kimberly, RootsWeb]
